DIY done...and another!

OK, I'm ready to unveil my "broken pottery pieces" DIY! I am not sure what to make of it......so you be the judge.

So to recap......a few days ago a mask I had on the wall, fell to the ground in the strong wind and broke into 4-5 pieces. It didn't smash to a thousand smithereens, but the pieces weren't really big enough to glue back either. So that, along with some other broken pieces of clay and ceramic pots, inspired me to make a mosaic. I had no idea how to go about it or even what I was making.... I sort of laid out the pieces, then when it looked OK, glued them back on.
Here he/she is. Right now its androgynous.......and without a name. My husband suggested 'Shattered man"....but that sounds too morbid. Its part Japanese Samurai warrior, part Nagaland tribal, part man, part woman....not an easy job to name "it". But anyway, here it is......

Well one thing I know. It will scare away any unwanted visitors! Even my dog Lucy, who gets into EVERY project I am working on....backed off from this one!

So that being done, I worked on another DIY! Sort of an impromptu one. On one of my scouting expeditions I found this in a bazaar street.....for 100 rupees/$2! Not sure why, but thought I could do something with it.
This was one idea I found....putting a candle inside and making it a lantern
But then last night, when sleep was evading me, I remembered I had this...an old Jaipuri umbrella which I wasn't using at all.....
So I dismantled/dismembered it....and covered the wire basket with it, It was a perfect fit
And now it hangs in the verandah....

So you can see I've been busy! Creating all kinds of silly things....but as long as I'm having fun I guess it time well spent!

I think this is fabulous. I couldn't tell what you had done when it was a close-up, but your long shot revealed it all and it is absolutely great! Well done. Here's to more shattering. You know what they say about eggs and omlettes, hmmmm?

Neha...if you look closely, the wire basket has an opening on the side, small enough for me to slip a tea light in it. I do plan on doing that this evening...lighting it to see what it looks like.
