Happy Mother's Day!

To all moms out there, but especially to my dearest mother, Amma - my friend, guide, philosopher, recipe consulter, doctor, reprimander, rebuker, soother, pacifier, shopping and Scrabble partner.......
......and my grandmother, Ammamma - 89 years old, still singing sweetly but softly, who struggles to remember what happened yesterday, but can recall every minute detail of her wedding day 72 years ago!
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY  TO BOTH OF YOU!

My grandma, age 16, circa 1938, pre-wedding
my mom, age 18, 1958, pre-wedding
my mom and me, I was a few months old, 1961
The three of us in 2010.......ages 88, 70 and 49!!!!!
Happy Mother's Day!

Mosaic Monday - Happy Mother's Day

Here is a photo collage of some of the gorgeous women and mothers in our family, taken 50 to 70 years ago....who have helped shape me and all those around me!
Clockwise from top left: my sweet mother, who at 70 years old, still looks a lot like this photo taken when she was 18; my late mother-in-law, one of the softest, gentlest souls I knew; my late grand aunt, who knew everything about bringing up children and would have given Dr. Spock a run for his money; and lastly, my maternal grandmother (picture taken 70 years ago) who is living in Chennai with my uncle. She was a popular singer in her hey days and even today at 87 years old, can sing a tune flawlessly!
Thanks to Mary for hosting Mosaic Monday! Check out her awesome blog!
