Done messing around with pastels!!!

Done with that messy pastel drawing, whew! Pastels are quick, easy to apply, produce deep intense color and are very forgiving cos its easy to color over mistakes! But damn, they are messy! By the time I was done, I had pastel powder all over me, my study table was strewn with colored dust, I had it on my arms, my face.....all over! It was like what happened to Seattle after Mt. St. Helens erupted in 1980. There was a good inch of dust all over the city for weeks.......!

Anyway, here is the finished work. It was done on watercolor paper I had left over from my watercolor entry for TDAC! It measures approx. 16" x 22". Now on to get it framed and hung...or sold????
Anyway, the good thing was my desk not only got a good and much needed cleaning, it also got a makeover! My husband, good man, fixed this little shelf above it for all my knick knacks. Looks much neater now and gives me more room on the table for when I am working on a drawing!
My 7 year old nephew Jay, and my 9 year old niece Sheila, did these for me when they visited me in Jan 2008!

OK, so what should my next project be? I am toying with another DIY idea.....imprinting leaf impressions with fabric paint onto a linen runner....sort of inspired by this that I saw here!
Hmmm...let me think about it a bit!

Kamini, I love it---the painting(?) came out wonderful---I love your use of color and the bold, unhesitant strokes!

Your table looks even better if that is possible (Love your tablecloth---it's those stole/sarong things from the northeast isn't it?)---I would never have thought to put mine to such use! The masks are adorable, and I'm holding my breath for the next DIY!

Beautiful work space kamini. And as always great photographs. The lighting glow is perfect... the colors so soothing. No clutter but just the right amount of things for inspiration. Absolutely gorgeous.

leaf motif runner is a great idea. How about painting on stones like Geninne? I am waiting for someone to try and give step by step instructions so i can try too. The store(Blik) where she buys her colors (online) from is pretty close to me so I visited but as i am not an artist, even though I was inspired didn't know how to go about. I also went and saw that Italian pottery store which you had posted about, from outside.

GB - my mom gave me that tablecloth or sarong...not sure what it is meant to be. But she got it for me from either Nepal or Tibet when she went there in 2004!
Rekha, Anrosh, Patty - thanks.
Vinita - Thanks. I haven't found the right stones to paint on yet, but yes I have been toying with that idea. Are you talking about Artistica.com store??? ohh love it.
Shanthi - looking forward to seeing you here. Call me.
Emreen - thanks.

What a lovely lovely space to paint from! I use my dining room table :( And the painting is absolutely gorgeous! Sold already? Congrats! :) Imprinting leaf on cloth is a great idea. I wanted to do it on my cloth lampshade and in the end resorted to using wooden blocks instead. But i remember doing it as a kid in art class :) Oh and I love the table cloth from the north east!

These colors are so YOU. Especially the orange on the fish. I love such abstract-ish work. Please get your next DIY done soon, there are lots of maple leaves here 'coz of Fall. I will copy you. :-)

The painting's gorgeous! You workspace has taken my breath away! I've been wondering whether I should move a bookshelf from my room to the guest room and put a writing desk in. Now I'm convinced!
