My DIY is finally done!!

Whew! Finally....its finished. Seemed like it would never end. I'm not very good (read - impatient) with long drawn out projects. Give me something I can complete in 1 day, I'm happy. But anything that takes me more than 24 hrs tires me out. I know, I know....but I'm like that! But I started this DIY fully aware of the time it would take me, and sort if took it on as a challenge, determined to stay motivated till the very end. And I think I learned a bit of patience this last 2 weeks!

So anyway, its done, just in time for Diwali! Not that I plan to use it for any Diwali decoration, but its an auspicious time to finish something - I think!

This is what I started with......
And this is what I have now. I painted all 4 sides a little differently. I stayed with the same motif/theme but just messed around with the colors a bit. Like I had mentioned, the idea was to make it look colorful, folksy and tribal...not refined and sophisticated. Well, its definitely ummmm, what's the word.... colorful!

The Madhubani painting decoupaged on top
 Left side - green background
Front of the box - Orange/yellow background

Backside of the box - black background

 Right side - red background
I think I'm done with DIY's for a while now. I need to get back to some painting...oil painting that is. I have 2 canvases ready to go, picture drawn and all. Will post them when I am done.

Thank you all and a very Happy Diwali to you too.
GB - I was this close (holding up thumb and forefinger one millimeter apart) to giving up.
Komali - that is an old candlestick I had. I was looking for something as a prop for taking pics and then I realized it had the exact same colors, so now this is its new home!

Lovely! The madhubani top is a nice touch.

And may I add that the box is so beautiful on its own that you dont need the candle stick on top vying for attention!
