Sensational Spaces III

I just picked up my first issue of the magazine Casaviva, and I was completely floored by the lovely pics and articles in it. This is an Italian magazine that has just made its entrance into the Indian market. It has inspirational ideas and cutting edge concepts from the design capitals of the world. This particular issue is a visual feast, a nice blend of Indian and international, and in language that is direct and engaging. What absolutely had me thrilled was this uber-stylish home of one Laila Abdullah!

Laila moved to Geneva when she was 4 years old, and then back to her home country after 4 decades. This is her sprawling ground floor apartment in Delhi. It is spacious, airy, light, sophisticated in colors of rust and burnt orange, red, gold and maroon. Layered fabrics and highly textured furnishings, hand embroidered pillows and bedspreads, rich jewel-toned carpets, exquisitely detailed cushions and curtains, warm chandeliers, vividly patterned tablecloths and quirky knick-knacks make for an ambience that is at once cozy yet stylish! This is the kind of home I could move into in a heartbeat and start living right away without changing a thing (not that she is going to ask me to, but my point being I just love everything about it...)

Take a look at these pics!!!
Her house is featured on the cover of the mag.
The outdoor area - a divan complemented by intricately embroidered cushion and carpet, a filigree lantern and stools. The masterpiece is the delicate screen studded with lights. WOW!

The gorgeous gorgeous living room in red orange tones. And that lamp!!!!! What a statement it makes!
 Dreamy.....thats all I can say!
The entertainment unit is a sculpture against that wall.
The modular kitchen with the same shades of red and orange and yellow
The brilliant chandelier, orange curtains, patterned tablecloth and tableware make for a fabulous setting.
The dramatic gold and black palette for the bedroom, pillows and bedspreads were commissioned from a designer.

Wasn't that just an incredible home?
